It is the same calcium produced within the dinosaur that laid them. This calcium becomes calcite over millions of years which is a crystallized form of Calcium. Even diamonds are more reproducible than the structure of real shell . The evidence of calcite are the crystals themselves. The shell of a real egg will sparkle with millions of facets.
